Day 37 Sunday April 26th 2020

Luna woke super early and I dressed and thought today would be a good time to check out some of the ted talks I’ve been meaning to. Shortly though I was joined by Eashan so plan changed quickly after letting Luna out for a poo and had quickly reverted back to the land of slumber ( not that I was jealous) to cosying in the den to watch more Jonathan creek. Perfect!

The increase in daily hospital deaths from coronavirus is at it lowest level since the end of March – finally some good news! Powis said he was encouraged by the decline in hospital admissions and deaths. “All our efforts, hard though they might be, have begun to pay off,” he said. But he added: “This is not the time to say: ‘We’ve done a good job, we need to stop complying with social distancing.’

Today is the 2.6 challenge The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. Today was meant to be the marathon and that inspirational day raises millions as we all know… anyway the 2.6 challenge has been born from this and lots of wonderful activities have been created. For work we have been set 25 challenges by the children and every member of staff can do one… here is the list.

For lunch today Matt exceeded his baking skills and made bagels- they were so delicious!

Salmon and cream cheese for Arushi! Yum!

Then for our family 2.6 challenge we decided to do a 26.2km bike ride. It’s always so glorious to get out on a longer bike ride as a family and the weather was stunning. I had done an extra long walk with Luna to tire her out as we knew we would not be able to take her today.

We thought we would head up to the city as it would be quieter and shadier too…. it was surreal! There were so many parts that were insanely busy. Clapham High St’s pavements were HEAVING and then the city had so many people cycling round too. Boris bikes are doing a killing right now – think everyone is getting a bit fed up of staying in! We admittedly were out for a little over an hour but would have LOVED to have been out longer but at least we are lucky to have a garden!

Tower of London

Upon our return home Luna as you can imagine was over the moon to see us and we chilled in the garden!

Shubs very kindly dropped off some samosas! Delicious !
Arushi showing me her chess moves

Luna then however decided to start digging up the garden and it was unfortunate timing, as then the sprinklers turned on, resulting in a very muddy Luna. Arushi washed Luna, and most the mud seemed to be transfer to Arushi’s top!

In the evening we had a panic about not having thought of school or getting anything ready so spent a flurried hour printing and organising ready for tomorrow!

Positive Note: Biking round London ( even though terribly busy) is simply glorious and reignites my love for this city and biking…. ooh and my work challenge…. Matty and I went for the standing on one leg for 2.6 minutes… harder than it sounds!
