Day 1 Saturday March 21st 2020

Boris’s main message:

As families prepared to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, Mr Johnson said the best single present for mothers was to stay away.

It comes after the government this week told all restaurants, cafes and pubs – as well as some other public spaces like gyms and cinemas – to close.

Day 1

So we guess today was the first official day of trying to socially distance ourselves…. when we all woke up we realised we were failing straightaway as John Campbell came over around 8am to pick up Ruby who had had her first little doggy sleepover at ours- not sure she’s a massive fan of Luna but we will keep working on this rapport

Millen and I then headed to the supermarket. The coop was already devoid of many supplies so we marched onto Waitrose where we discovered a huge queue…. it was 8.34am! So we decided to upgrade our shopping to M and S. Now is not the time to to be hunting for the good deals… just hunting for food . We managed to get most things on our list for us and the other two families that we were shopping for due to their self isolating.

After delivering the foods we came home and weren’t quite sure what to do with ourselves……no sport, no friends to see, no jobs to be done outside of the house… all very bizarre. So Matt had the bright idea of starting family yoga sessions. There was a lot of laughing and a lot of farting… good fun and we can only get better right?

Giggle time

After a spot of lunch the children had their music lessons – all done via zoom- an app I wasn’t terribly familiar with but in the last 24 hours it feels like I’ve used the word “zoom”practically every hour!

The music teachers were phenomenal and so positive – all very new for us all but all good.

We then headed for a walk with Luna and had cautiously arranged to meet the Gardeners too which was lovely but it was weird walking far apart and no physical contact with them. All so unsettling !

We came back and decided that as our schooling was about to be VERY different we should all design our own new school logo and a new school name. These are our results. Can you guess whose is who?

Delicious supper of beef rendang cooked by Matty.

All in all not a bad day!

Positive Thought- Spring hasn’t been cancelled.
