Day 69 Thursday 28th May 2020

Wow so my birthday has finally arrived…. a day I genuinely believe my children have been way more excited than I have! So sweet … and also such a clear reminder of how brilliant birthdays are when you’re younger. I’ve always loved celebrating my birthday though… so long may it continue!

Anyway I digress…. I was given a lovely lie in and then awoke to these three grinning faces with a purple themed tray- a flower handpicked from the garden and a rather grim looking smoothie ( but fear not… it tasted divine)

Purple wake up

After showering I headed down to the most delicious waft of baking and this gorgeous scene!

Arushi had been awake since 6am making us all waffles ! How sweet is that!
And if that’s not enough she made this amazing ( and seriously delicious) cake!

We then opened all my cards and presents and literally I can’t even begin to say how spoilt I was!

Some serious complicated folding from Millen
A reveal card from Eashan
A stunning calligraphy card from Arushi
We always thought she should work for a hallmark – she’s such a loving daughter!

I’m obvs not going to list all the special cards and presents I received as I was truly humbled by so many people remembering and making my bday really phenomenal! But I just want to and have to add a couple of vids of bday messages that blew me out of the park!

Can I love MLC any more?
Serenaded not once, not twice
But three times!! I mean even the Queen doesn’t get this sort of treatment! I’m so blessed to have amazing family and friends! But now I’m getting scared at how we can do a good job for Arushi celebrating her 13th!

Matty has taken the day off so we had decided to head for Frensham ponds to do some swimming … apparently there is a beach there!

We had an enjoyable journey listening to Harry Potter. All three of my kids have resisted Harry Potter forever… which is fair enough if they’ve read some of them… but only arushi has, and I’m not sure you can just write off series of books that you’ve actually never read if the rest of the country literally devours every word J K Rowling says… anyway surprisingly fun listening to a story that we are all absorbed in… I wasn’t a huge fan before but not having listened to the first story and seeing how captivated the children are have made me realise it’s ok.

Frensham did turn out to be pretty packed but we managed to avoid the rather ghastly looking beach and secure our own little secluded fishing bay… if could not have been more perfect!! We waded in and had a little swim… and when I say we… I mean the 5 of us and Luna!

Eashan was quite insistent on having goggles!
Matty proving to us all ( rather unconvincingly ) that isn’t wasn’t that cold!
Aargh Luna and her pond action!

We headed for a drive and then a walk to the little pond as we were curious to see it.

We left the big pond after having a little swim and a yummy lunch and a bit of a sunbathe.

The little pond was SO much nicer again, it was a bit of a hike from where we parked but dogs were allowed on the beach and it was just so much quieter. We didn’t have much time here as we had to get back home but it was a brilliant place to swim/ row/ paddle around so we will deffo be back!

Chilled vibe at the little pond
So much quieter too!
There was an American national park kind of feel- probably the towering trees with the sandy terrain and the pond or as the yanks would say… lake.

We had to drag ourselves away to get home in time for a bday drink on the common.

Just as we walked in Holly knocked on our door with these two little slices of bday cake- how adorable is it when your 9 year old neighbour makes you some cake!

As an impromptu thought popped into my head last night about having a bday drink- I texted a handful of people for a quick celebratory drink…

Cutting another gorgeous gift!
Social distancing birthday drimls

What an absolutely stonkingly awesome day – considering it was lock down there is something very humbling about the simple acts of kindness!

Positive note: of course all the kindness my kids, family and friends have shown! I definitely think this birthday goes in my top 5!!
