So today is blackout Tuesday… a day that has nothing to do with Coronavirus…. but is massive news.
George Floyd, a 46-year-old bouncer, was killed last Monday by Derek Chauvin, a police officer, who pressed his knee into Mr Floyd’s neck until he died while other police officers watched. Footage of the killing, taken by a bystander, showed Floyd lying face down and handcuffed, groaning for help and repeatedly saying, “please, I can’t breathe,” before becoming motionless.Horrific, sickening, crippling news… the news has restored the Black Lives matter movement that was formed in 2013.
Organisers behind the movement have asked people to:
- Post a picture of a black square on their social media account
- Mute their account for the day
- Use the time they would otherwise be on social media to educate themselves on Black Lives Matter
This is an important day in history… And quite simply racism cannot go on- I am Indian. I have mixed race kids- that’s not even the point… What has the colour of my skin got to do with anything… tell me!! Stab in the heart that coronavirus affects the BAME population so much more than the white population.
So onto lighter matters and my day…
So big excitement for this morning was that my new phone had arrived yesterday so was being synched up over night- so whilst I was doing my exercise this morning , I saw Arushi come down to the kitchen and I thought yay- she’s going to walk the dog…but oh no she was getting rather excited about my new phone and setting it up…. she’s definitely not got my lack of interest in technology – I need stuff to work and use it… but she has this absolute thirst for getting things to work and appreciates all the work that’s gone into making it more techy and look good- it’s a real natural instinct for her- the absolute opposite of me there.
The day was all about me panicking about work and the kids getting on with their day so not too much to report there! We did however have time for Eashan to get creative and do so rather fab art work!

One of my lovely gifts had been some homemade pasta delivery … so that arrived tonight! Amazing timing as I really could not be bothered to cook… and then if that wasn’t enough lovely Shubs turned up with a Fortnum and Masons bag full of serious goodies including some sausages! Double supper! My kind of supper!😉
Millen has been banned from the computer all week for sneaking onto Fortnight and then lying about it … but every silver lining as they say… the fact they then have to be slightly creative about playing again… and this was the result! Priceless!
Positive Note- We have way too much screen time with school and work … so important for us all to regularly detox and just have plain old fun!
