Day 70 Friday 29th May 2020

Another glorious day and we had pre arranged to see Ana and Millen was meeting his friend Alfred at Peckham Rye. They were meeting at the skate park so Millen took his skateboard but it was shut… however according to Paul ( Alfred’s dad) they spent more time chatting to each other than any boarding!!! Millen so misses his friends and even though he’s lucky enough to see them in some of his virtual lessons and formtime and chat to them in houseparty … his absolute glee of seeing Alfred shows his need for a real social life.

We left them and went off to another place on my London bucket list- Nunhead cemetery! Wow it was an awesome place and I’m sure one where we should have learnt more about the history… next time! It was fab to see Ana and hear all about her recent news. She’s such a gorgeous person and we were so lucky to have her as our nanny for 4 years. Millen came back to join us and we had a picnic lunch before having to say our goodbyes.

We had ( like old and normal times) packed quite a lot into our day so had arranged to meet Caroline, Bea and Austin… at yet another local London bucket list place… Dulwich woods! Wow the kids adored it! It’s big enough to be an adventure but small enough to let them run a little wild!

There is an amazing folly in the woods.

The mark of a true folly is that it was erected to satisfy and give pleasure to the builder, and greatly to surprise the stranger’ – Sir Hugh Casson.

While there is much debate about how exactly to define a folly, there’s little doubt that many visitors must be fooled by this folly in Sydenham Hill Wood. These ‘ruins’ actually only date back to the Victorian era, and were built as an impressive garden feature….. see learning all the time!

The bat cave…. it was closed sadly ….. grrrr lockdown!

After a fun afternoon with these guys we headed home for something we meant to do on my birthday but couldn’t quite fit in… a take out! Yum! We opted for Kricket and it didn’t disappoint!

Positive Note: So exciting still discovering new places that I have never been to yet are so close to where we live
