Day 51 Sunday May 10th 2020

Today is going to be the big Boris announcement tonight so I will add teh Political update at the end of the blog today.

It was funny after waking up…I checked the children’s bedrooms…I am not sure my hasty photos can really show you what I was trying to capture but….

Whatever time Arushi wakes whether it is 6am or 10am she ALWAYS makes her bed and tidies her room before leaving it….think my OCD has dripped through!
This doesn’t look so bad…..but it is pretty bad..Eashan never makes his bed, towels on teh floor, clothes all over the place and random stuff everywhere. Millen is somewhere between the two…..so hopefully it means as they get older they will be efficient as their sis at tidying their rooms!

We seemed to have a very slow morning of bacon sandwiches and reading whilst Matt went off for a real cycle ride to Crystal Palace with Matt.

We then got our acts together and headed off for a family walk with Luna…deciding on another urban walk in hope of avoiding lots of people and also discovering some new local treasures. We ended up walking to Fulham via South Park and Eel Brook Common…..all really rather nice if a bit chilly….well very chilly. Matty really wanted to look at getting a zip car back he was that cold…that never happens but then again he had done a cycle before and he was wearing shorts. Anyway in the end we went back via back streets avoiding wind tunnels and noisy traffic ( yup traffic is building up again) .

We headed home and all collapsed on the sofa with tea……Matt and the boys used this time to watch more star wars…I read the paper ( first time all lockdown…purchased paper that is…not sure the wafer thin Standard counts!!!) and Arushi read ..she has discovered the Hunger games trilogy and is LOVING it but the book is going everywhere with her.

The rest of the afternoon was spent chatting on zoom/ house party and awaiting Boris’s message…. it came… clear as mud!! This is the simplified message I think!

Despite some initial confusion among government ministers, the PM was clear in his speech that people who are able to work from home should continue to do so.

However, those who cannot, such as construction and manufacturing workers, are being encouraged to return to their jobs. … does that mean our snagging can get done now?

You can now leave the house multiple times a day to exercise, drive to other locations to exercise – previously heavily discouraged – and play sport, as long as it’s with members of your own household.

Schools and nurseries will remain closed, but if the spread of the virus continues to fall, some pupils could return in June “at the earliest”.

It would be a phased return, the PM said, beginning with reception, year one and year six pupils.

“Our ambition is that secondary pupils facing exams next year will get at least some time with their teachers before the holidays,” he added.

What to do after that clear message… but watch Jonathan creek of course!

Positive Note: feel a little well quite a lot unsettled about what the return to work looks like…. but the positive aide, looking at social media…. the rest of the country feels the same as me!
