Day 50 Saturday May 9th 2020

So the transport minister announced a new £2 billion package was unveiled in a bid to boost cycling and walking as methods of travel to ease the burden on public transport post-lockdown.Employers will be encouraged to increase uptake of the Cycle to Work Scheme, and a new bicycle repair voucher will also be available as part of the initiative. Having been using my bike quite a lot in lockdown it would be great to get a better bike. So I’m loving the sound of this new scheme!

So today was a great day- something pretty amazing about a 3 day weekend and the Friday being the bank holiday- feels more energetic… weird in a lockdown I know. I guess having the Friday off is an exciting feeling, Saturdays are always fab and then the Sunday is a chill day whereas in a normal bank holiday weekend the Sunday and the Monday both feel a Sunday…see what i mean!

Anyway we headed off for an urban walk today – headed to Tooting which was nice. Saw so many things I have not encountered before…a large queue outside a Carribean bakery meant I had to join it obviously….we bought our first Jamaican patties for lunch at home. (Wasn’t as delicious as we had hoped but hey ho still not horrible).

Urban family walk
Amazing to see independent stores like this fish shop MEGA busy with huge queues ( I managed to refrain from joining this one though)
And even more exciting…the same shop was advertising for staff….something I have not seen all lockdown!

We stocked up on vegetables and headed home for lunch and music lessons for the kids. This therefore meant cleaning time for Matt and I…..no matter how hard I try my cleaning is never as good as our cleaner…Matt is amazing at cleaning and just gets on with it whereas I am excellent at procrastinating.

I took Luna out for a walk and in the sunshine you can see how everyone is beginning to slacken off the Lockdown rules even though we shouldn’t be!

So many more people sitting round having chats…not so much active time.
Lots more restaurants opening up!

MJ invited us over for some bank holiday socially distanced cocktails…Matty stayed at home to look after the kids and do a virtual bike ride…some seriously yum cocktails!

Check out my blue daqueri in my blue dress with a blue car for the background….all very blue!
Social distance cocktail party

Tonight was Star Wards Night for Matt and the boys, so Arushi and I started a netflix teen drama show recommended by Daisy…..Arushi is loving it!

Late night for everyone including the boys who still insist on sleeping together at the weekend

Positive Note: Feeling sociable even in this social distancing time
